now i see that was just a hurdle on a mountain that i must climb
'cause all the shit just seems to hit the fan at, a singular time
now ive got some work to do on this life of mine

i'm doing better than my friends, or at least i think i am
making choices by comparison that aren't as bad
and im making the choices to follow me for the rest of my life
and that scares the hell out of me, 'cause it doesn't feel like i'm doing anything
and i put off the important things like paying for tickets and trying to get good grades
because i'd rather smoke, and fantasize about getting laid

im just a sad sack with a guitar
i hope my best laid plans can take me far away from here
i thought my life was coming back together one time
i hope with all of my heart, im still not that blind
